Paecilomyces cicadae
This fungus is an endoparasite of underground cicada nymphs. That is what you are seeing here. After ingestion, it replaces internal structures with mycelia (the “plant-like” part of the fungus), eventually killing the host. Eventually the fruiting bodies grow from the host and release spores, continuing the cycle.
