not to be pretentious but i hate when ppl post jenny holzer’s lustmord series out of context like its not grungey or romantic its a commentary on sexual violence as a tool of genocide and if ur posting the artwork i feel like u have a responsibility to include that fact…if you dont know those are her poems that are written in pen on skin

also im talking like specifically about art blogs that post the images originally! obviously ppl reblogging them cant be expected to know the entire history of a random piece thats crossed their dash but if you’re the original poster u DO have access to that information so use it

RAPE AND GENOCIDE TW

https://wellcomecollection.org/articles/lustmord thats the link for the full article if you’re interested it also has a download link for the poems and the page does offer trigger warnings but like i just want to reiterate they can be massively upsetting to read…its just so jarring to me to see images of her work that were meant to be from the point of view of a rapist being shared without context

where is all the criticism toward alison bechdel for praising that book (written by another lesbian, btw) that is both transphobic and lesbophobic and promotes corrective r*pe lol?

you know what’s interesting about this is that people had all the courage in the world to criticize syd tha kyd and young m.a. for being “misogynistic” (just for being black butch lesbians who talk sexually about women in their music), to criticize janelle monáe for identifying as both bi/pan and for “not being gnc enough”, to criticize kehlani for identifying poor reasons to prefer “queer” to “bisexual”, to criticize azealia banks for using the f slur (despite her apologies) and to criticize sara ramirez for using the word “monosexual”, but no one has the courage to criticize beloved white women! you all truly are such cowards lmao
